Cultural / Civic Organizations

California Surf Museum
This museum displays the history of surfboards and wave riding. Through its thirty-plus year history it now houses one of the biggest collection of surfing history. Volunteers serve as museum docents, assist curators in research for future exhibits, and help maintain the building and grounds.

Oceanside Community Resource Centers
The city’s Neighborhood Services Department needs volunteers to assist with tutoring, mentoring, and other programs at the three community resource centers: Chavez, Crown Heights, and Libby Lake, Spanish-speaking volunteers are particularly needed.

Oceanside Historical Society

Serves the community through its museum, website, publications and walking tours. Volunteers are sought to help with a variety of needs.

Oceanside Museum of Art
Volunteers serve as docents, lead tours, help staff the gift shop, and assist with special events.

Oceanside Parks & Recreation Department
Volunteers are needed to assist with general clerical and receptionist duty at the main administration office, as well as recreation centers. Volunteer coaches are needed for youth sports leagues in flag football, indoor soccer, and basketball.

Oceanside Police Department
The Oceanside Police utilize volunteers in the Senior Volunteer Patrol Program, in which qualified seniors can assist in either an office setting or in unarmed uniform community patrols. Youth ages 16-20 can participate in the Police Explorer Program, in which they learn about careers in law enforcement and help out with traffic control and other community activities.

Oceanside Public Library
The library uses volunteers to help teach literacy, perform history research, deliver books to homebound residents, and provide general assistance to visitors. The Teen Partners program allows youth aged 14-18 to assist with children’s programs, including leading craft projects, helping children register, re-shelving books, and helping visitors find books.

Oceanside Senior Services & Centers

Volunteers are needed at the Country Club and El Corazon senior centers to serve as front desk concierge, assist with events,, and provide other general help at the centers. In addition, drivers over the age of 18 years old are needed to assist seniors in getting to medical appointments, grocery shopping, pharmacy trips, and even to the hair dresser. Volunteers receive mileage reimbursement for all trips as well as annual training and recognition.

San Diego Humane Society – Oceanside Campus
Volunteers exercise animals waiting for adoption, perform community outreach, and train for emergency evacuation of livestock.

Parks & Wilderness

Buena Vista Audobon

Chartered in 1951 as the coastal North San Diego County chapter of the National Audubon Society, the society runs a nature center on the shore of Buena Vista Lagoon. The center offers programs that help foster a knowledge and appreciation for the plants and animals that make up the natural ecosystem of our community. Volunteers serve as docents, lead nature hikes, help prepare and mail the newsletter, and more.

Guajome Regional Park
This county park relies on volunteers to assist with park maintenance, serve as docents, and patrol the grounds to answer any questions from visitors.

Service Organizations

Assistance League of North Coast
Chartered by the National Assistance League in 1992, this organization  is dedicated to serving the needs, primarily of children, in the communities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista, with the goal of providing a positive starting point for academic success. The local League operates a thrift store at 1830 Oceanside Boulevard. Call for hours as they change according to the latest public health orders. Volunteers assist in all aspects of the League’s operation.

Brother Benno’s
Started in 1983 and named after a local Catholic monk who was renowned for his service to the poort, this nonprofit organization provides meals, hot showers, clothing, job training, addiction recovery, and more.

Joseph G. McComb American Legion Post 146
Open to any honorably discharged military veterans, the local post supports the local VA clinic by volunteering at the front desk and driving veterans to and from appointments.

Kiwanis Club of Oceanside
Founded in 1926, Kiwanis Club of Oceanside raises money for local youth programs and sponsors a Key Club for teens at the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad.

Oceanside Elks Lodge
Lodge #1561 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks supports local Scouting units, and supports local organizations that serve children with special needs and their families.

Oceanside Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows
Lodge #346 of the IOOF is dedicated to assisting those in need in the community.

Oceanside Memorial VFW Post 10577
Open to any honorably discharged veteran who served in an overseas area of foreign conflict. The local club holds fundraisers to assist with local veterans and patriotic efforts, and supports Wreaths Across America.

Oceanside Moose Lodge
Lodge #1375 of Moose International is a family fraternity that raises money for local scholarships and Special Olympians, while also participating in Toys for Tots each year. Every Moose Lodge also financially supports Mooseheart children’s village just outside Aurora, Ill., and Moosehaven home for low-income seniors in Orange Park, Fla.

Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis
This club volunteers at Brother Benno’s, organizes and sponsors the annual Beach Fun Day for local elementary school students, and prepares senior food boxes.

Oceanside – San Dieguito Masonic Lodge No. 381, F&AM
This Masonic Lodge supports the California Masonic Foundation’s childhood literacy program.

Rotary Club of El Camino Real
Part of Rotary International, this service club raises money for public health and education programs locally and around the globe.

Rotary Club of Oceanside
Rotary Club of Oceanside partners with Life Line and Oceanside Unified School District to improve the Crown Heights neighborhood.

Rotary Club of San Luis Rey

Founded in 1992, this club raises money to assist with polio eradication, providing wheelchair access to those in need, and awarding scholarships to graduates of Ocean Shores High School.

Salvation Army – Oceanside Corps
The Oceanside Corps operates a food bank, offers senior lunches and visits to shut-ins, a homeless shelter, addiction recovery, and affordable senior housing. Volunteers assist in nearly all operations.

San Diego North County Lions Club
Part of Lions International, this service club raises money to support programs that promote healthy vision.

TERI – Campus of Life
TERI (Training, Education, Research & Innovatio) works to improve the quality of life for children and adults with developmental and learning disabilities throughout North County.

Veterans Association of North County
This nonprofit association provides a range of services to local military veterans, as well as active-duty service members and their families. Volunteers assist with working the front desk, maintaining the offices and grounds, or helping with events.

Youth Enrichment Programs

Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside
A youth development organization that is dedicated to providing a safe, fun and enriching environment for youth to spend time during non-school hours. 

Boy Scouts of America
Volunteers help plan and staff day camps, resident camps, camporees and other large, multi-unit events; assist with fund-raising; serve on Eagle boards of review; and serve as Merit Badge counselors and STEM mentors.

Girl Scouts of the USA
Volunteers help staff day camps, assist with adult training workshops, sit on the Gold Award Committee, assist in the local Scout office, and mentor girls through the advancement program.

Mottino Family YMCA
Volunteers help coach youth sports, work in the gym and pool with members, and assist with fundraising campaigns.

Oceanside American Little League
This league offers baseball for youths ages 4-16 within its participation boundaries.

Oceanside Breakers
This league offers both recreational and competitive soccer for youths ages 4-18.

Oceanside Fastpitch Softball
This league offers recreational and competitive softball for girls.

Oceanside Lacrosse
Oceanside Lacrosse offers lacrosse for youths in grades 4-8.

Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club
Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club works to plan, create, sponsor and hold family oriented activities related to the beach and surfing and stimulate public interest in all aspects of these activities, including the history of the sport, and beach and ocean conservation

Oceanside National Little League
This league offers baseball for youths ages 4-16 within its participation boundaries.

Oceanside Pop Warner Football and Cheer
This organization provides football, cheer and dance programs for area youth.

Oceanside Valley Little League
This league offers baseball for youths ages 4-16 within its participation boundaries.

Tri-City Inline Hockey League
This league offers inline hockey for youth in elementary through high school.
